Did you know that Shakespeare is the only playwright studied as a part of the standard curriculum in all 50 states? We all recognize that Shakespeare is a touchstone in our common culture, but the challenge for teachers is how to make this 400 - year-old work connect to students in the classroom.

WE COME TO YOU!

Here’s how it works:

Our teaching artists come to your school and take over class periods; they’re fully prepared and they bring all the material that they need. You can be involved as much or as little as you like. Give us a room and we’ll have some fun with Shakespeare and your students.

HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

READING, RECITING, REVIEWING
The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company puts the text in the hands of students. Our energetic, highly trained teaching artists make it their priority to have the students not just “get it,” but also “like it.” The program gives special emphasis to reading comprehension and vocabulary.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM

MOVING AND SHAKING
The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company provides an introduction to the works of William Shakespeare with our “on your feet” approach. Let our teaching artists supplement your students’ abilty to evaluate content, organization, and language- use of texts, use of figurative language, and rhetorical devices.

Chesapeake Shakespeare Company also conducts Summer Camps, After School Programs, Community Education and Professional Artist Development. We’ll be happy to provide additional information about these programs. Please contact:
