COMBAT FOR KIDS, December 2 -16, 2017
Class Description: “Hold sir, or I’ll throw your dagger o’er the house…” Leap into the world of Shakespeare’s most physical scenes with beginning stage combat. This three-week workshop will focus on the fundamental techniques of unarmed and single sword combat for the stage. Students will learn how to perform choreographed violence that is both visually captivating as well as safe. The skills learned in class will culminate in a final presentation on December 16 for family and friends of scenes from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, a raucous comedy perfect for the holiday season.

WHAT is SCHOOL’S OUT SHAKESPEARE?
When you saw the “No Classes” dates listed on the school calendar, perhaps you thought you’d line up something for the kids to do. Something more than staying at home and playing video games? Something more than accompanying you to work, yes?
Let them spend a day performing a little Shakespeare! Chesapeake Shakespeare Company invites you to enroll your K-6 students in a day-long acting workshop in our downtown theater. Our teaching artists will lead acting exercises that keep students on their feet, laughing, and stretching their imaginations.
School’s Out Shakespeare participants explore Shakespeare’s words and stories appropriate for their grade level. The fun includes monologue and scene study –and games, too!
This special President’s Day session will explore The Political Plays of Shakespeare. Get ready to dive into the plays of Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus, and Troilus and Cressida!
