Henry IV, Part II

A Shakespeare-lover’s thrill: the Falstaff plays!

Together, Henry IV, Part I and Part II tell the spellbinding chronicle of the roguish Prince Hal, who is pulled between the magnetic, funny, and dissolute Falstaff and his dutiful and despondent father, King Henry. Rarely performed, individually or together, these brilliant plays are a bounty of drama and comedy for any Shakespeare-lover. See both!  We’re presenting the two plays in repertory,  and on selected Saturdays as a monumental day of great theater.

Henry IV, Part II
By William Shakespeare
March 15 – April 7, 2019

Previously, in Part I,  Prince Hal  is torn between the seductive lure of a rogue’s life and the weighty responsibilities of his father, King Henry IV.  When duty calls, Hal proves his mettle at the Battle of Shrewsbury.  As their story continues in Part II,  the king nears death,  and warring among the nobility continues: The defeated rebels regroup. Prince Hal’s friend, the aging tavern-brawler Falstaff, is up to his unscrupulous tricks and scene-stealing humor. Hal avoids responsibility for a time but cannot put off the inevitable as his father fades. Through Hal’s journey to the throne, Shakespeare invites us to explore themes of family, duty, honor,  leadership, succession, and legacy.  Scroll down to the calendar for tickets to Part II.
