This season, we’re welcoming groups at all of our mainstage productions in Baltimore and Ellicott City — and at our NEW educational series of 10am weekday matinees in our Baltimore theater.
New! Weekday matinees in Baltimore are designed to serve the region’s schools, and are open to the public as well. Active learning and audience engagement are the goals and each matinee ends with an audience-actor talkback. For individual general admission seats at weekday matinees, purchase tickets online here. For school group rates and seating at designated school matinees, please click here. For school groups at evening or weekend shows, please contact the Box Office by email or call 410-244-8570 (Box Office hours: Tues-Fri, 11am-3pm).
GROUPS at CHESAPEAKE SHAKESPEARE COMPANY
The Number One reason people attend theatre is to experience a fun event with friends, family, or colleagues. Plan a holiday party, a Mom’s night out, a corporate incentive field trip, an alumni gathering. We’ll help make your event special.
Some groups we’ve welcomed, just to name a few:
The Yale Alumni Group – Johns Hopkins University Classics Department – Circle of Red – Gordon Feinblatt – Washington University in St. Louis Alumni – Northeast Modern Language Association – Carefirst – The Lab School – Folger Shakespeare Library – Grace Memorial Episcopal Church – Mixolo – U.S. Naval Academy – Maryland Institute College of Art
We welcome groups of 10 adults or more with discounted group ticket prices. Our capacity is 266 seats in Baltimore. Inquire about catered and pre-show activities in Baltimore.
For summer picnic events at our plays in the PFI Historic Park: At our outdoor stage in Ellicott City, we can accommodate up to 300 at a performance (seating is general admission in folding chairs). Inquire about pre-show receptions under the tent. For smaller groups: Picnic tables that seat six are available for rent.
RESERVATIONS: Advance booking is required for group ticket sales, to ensure the availability of seating. All seats are reserved and nonrefundable. Group tickets must be paid in full in advance; reservations not paid will be released two weeks before the performance date. Group seats will be assigned by the Box Office; we will do our best to seat your group together but seat assignment will be based on availability. Please notify the Box Office if any members of your group will require special needs seating.
*STUDENT GROUPS wishing to see evening and weekend performances: Our student tickets are already discounted to half the adult price. For every 10 students, get two chaperone tickets at the student price. NOTE: Student-priced tickets are not available on Saturday evenings. The adult group discount price will apply if your student group wishes to attend a Saturday night performance. If your school group wants to attend a designated 10am student matinee on a weekday, please contact Ron Heneghan, Director of Education and Community Engagement by email or call 410-244-8571, ext. 113.
- Did you know? Our PNC Family Room is a playroom with a rack of costumes, a write-on wall, and a supply of art materials for Shakespeare’s youngest fans. It is open before and during performances for those times when young audience members feel wiggly. We do ask parents and guardians to accompany children in the family room and we provide a video monitor on the wall so that you won’t miss a minute of the performance.
TO ORDER GROUP TICKETS: Please contact Liz Nelson in the Box Office by email or call 410-244-8570 (Box Office hours: Tues-Fri, 11am-3pm.)
PRE-SHOW RECEPTIONS and EVENTS:
- Sponsor a night of theatre for your company, clients, or family.
- Plan a pre-performance reception.
- We can accommodate groups of 10 to 266. We also have a 125 seat classroom and performance space next door in The Studio at the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, available for event rentals or pre-show and post-show workshops.
- Engage, enlighten: Inquire about booking a workshop to extend the learning or themes of any of our plays.
Groups may rent the Middendorf Lounge or the PNC Family Room for private entertaining before the performance. All rentals must be reserved in advance and guaranteed with a nonrefundable deposit. To discuss availability, rental and facilities use policies, and fees, please contact Liz Nelson in the Box Office at 410-244-8570.
The theater is in use by the company year-round for rehearsals, educational programs, camps and performances, and therefore is only rarely available for private rentals. To inquire about availability, rental and facilities use policies, and fees, please contact Kristina Lambin, our Business Manager.
