Student Shakespeare Festivals & Celebrations
Maryland High School Shakespeare Festival
Open to all high schools in Maryland. Join us every November for our annual Maryland High School Shakespeare Festival where drama clubs from around the state convene to perform Shakespearean scenes on our professional stage! Whether your group is from a public school, private school, or homeschool, all Maryland high schoolers are welcome to join. Each school will perform a 5-minute scene that is at least 75% Shakespearean text. The festival always ends in an ice cream social with ample time for students to meet each other and make connections with other teen artists.
Registration for the 2026 Maryland High School Shakespeare Festival is currently closed.
Citywide Shakespeare Celebration
Open to all Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPSS). Join us yearly on April 23rd* to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday the best way possible – performing his shows! Schools get 15 minutes to showcase their favorite Shakespearean scene, monologue, or adaptation. This celebration has been a staple of CSC for over 10 years, with over 500 students having performed on our stage.
Registration for the 2027 Citywide Shakespeare Celebration will be open on January 1, 2027.
*On years that April 23rd occurs on a weekend, the celebration will be held on the Friday prior.
